Filter Assembly Inspection

Applicability: Brackett Aircraft Specialities engine air inlet filter assemblies model Nos. BA-4106, BA-4210, BA-5110, BA-6110 and BA-8110.

 

Requirement:  With foam element removed from the air filter assembly, inspect the aluminium diamond mesh retainer for cracks or failed areas.

 

If cracks or failed areas are found replace retainer before further flight with a steel screen, P/N. as listed below, or refit the aircraft manufacturer’s original air filter assembly.

Note: The air inlet filter assemblies are fitted to, but not necessarily limited to, the following aircraft:

 

Filter Model Aircraft

 

  1. BA-4106  Cessna 150, 150A to M, A150L and A150M. Piper PA-20, PA-20-115 and PA-20-135.

 

2.    BA-4210 Grumman American AA-1, AA-1A, AA-1B and AA-5. 3. BA-5110               Cessna 170, 170A, 170B, 172 and 172A to M.

4.    BA-6110 Mooney M20, M20A, M20B, M20C, M20D and M20G.

 

5.    BA-8110 Cessna 180C to K, 182Bto Q, 185, 185A to E and A185F.

 

Compliance: Within 100 hours time in service after 31 March 1979 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 100 hours time in service until the aluminium diamond mesh retainer is replaced with a steel screen, P/N. as applicable, or the aircraft manufacturer’s original air filter assembly is refitted.
