SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE


On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/A330/7 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

THSA Transfer Tube 11/2004

 

 

Applicability: Airbus A330 aeroplanes, model -201, -202, -203, -223, -243, -301, -302, -303, -321, -

322, -323, -341, -342 and -343, all serial numbers.

 

Requirement: Carry out initial and repetitive inspections and modifications as detailed in DGAC AD 2002-414(B) R3.

 

Note: DGAC AD F-2002-414R3 (EASA approval No 2004-7036) refers.

 

Compliance: As detailed in the requirement document from the effective date of the original issue of this Directive, being 26 December 2002.

 

This Amendment becomes effective on 28 October 2004.

 

Background: Several cases of transfer tube disconnection from the ball-nut of the Trimmable Horizontal Stabiliser Actuator (THSA) have been reported due to water ingress and subsequent freezing. The intention of this Directive is to correct an unsafe condition by introducing repetitive inspections and maintenance actions.

 

Amendment 1 of this Directive clarified the applicability of this Directive, and gave notification of the status of the relevant manufacturers service document, with no change to the requirements set out in the original issue of this Directive.

 

This amendment provides for new aircraft models added to the applicability statement.

 

Amendment 1 of this Directive became effective on 30 October 2003.

 

The original issue of this Directive became effective on 26 December 2002.
