The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Amdt 2

Type A Passenger/Crew Door Slide Rafts and Type 1 Emergency Door Slides

9/2004

Applicability: All Model A330-200 and A330-300 series aircraft, equipped with Goodrich slides and slide rafts with part numbers listed in Goodrich VSB 25-347, dated 4 June 2004.

Requirement: Action in accordance with the requirements of DGAC AD 2004-094.

Note 1: A330 aircraft with MOD.52708 and MOD.52811 incorporated in production, and on which no slide or slide raft has been removed since aircraft delivery, are not affected by this Directive.

Note 2: Type A Passenger/crew doors 1, 2, 3, and 4 are fitted with slide rafts, Type 1 Emergency doors 3 are fitted with slides.

Note 3: Goodrich VSB 25A341 Revision 1 refers.

Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document.

This Amendment becomes effective on 2 September 2004.

Background: The DGAC received reports of non-deployment of Type A door slide rafts during maintenance tests, in both automatic and manual modes. In all cases, the regulator valve had malfunctioned and prevented gas release.

Amendment 1 corrected the compliance to align it with the DGAC Directive. This was an error in the original issue.

Amendment 2 is issued in response to a new DGAC AD, which mandates a terminating modification of the Vespel piston inner diameter as per Goodrich VSB 25-347 to ensure correct operation of the regulator valve.
