Airbus Industrie A319, A320 and A321 Series Aeroplanes
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/A320/96 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Amdt 1
Alternate Braking System Check 6/2000
Applicability: All Airbus Industrie model A319, A320 and A321 aircraft.
Requirement: 1. For aircraft which do not have Modification 27833 or Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-32-1200 embodied, perform the functional test and, when necessary, the associated maintenance tasks described in paragraph 4 of Airbus Industrie AOT 32-19 at Revision 1, 2 or 3.
2. For aircraft which have Modification 27833 or Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-32-1200 embodied, perform the inspection defined in Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-32-1199.
3. Report results of all inspections carried out in accordance with requirement 1, or 2 above to Airbus Industrie.
4. Incorporate the requirements of Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-32-1203. Embodiment of this Service Bulletin or Airbus Industrie modification 28301 provides terminating action for this Directive.

Compliance: 1. Every week,
2. Every 6 months after the embodiment modification 27833 or Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-32-1200.
3. On completion of requirement 1 or 2 above.
4. Unless previously carried out by 30 June 2001. This Amendment becomes effective on 15 June 2000.

SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Background: Investigation into an incident involving an A320 aircraft showed that seizure of the alternate brake valve distribution body (BDDV) had been caused by water ingress into the valve. The measures introduced by the initial issue of this Directive provides inspection and operational tests to prevent a dormant in-flight failure of the alternate braking system pending the release of a permanent modification.
Amendment 1 has been raised to provide terminating action for this Airworthiness Directive.
The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 22 April 1999.
