For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/A320/58 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/A320/58
Amdt 2
Centre Fuselage, Pick-up Angle Between Frame 35 and 36
9/2002
Applicability: All A320 aircraft; without Airbus modification 21202 incorporated in production, or Service Bulletin A320-53-1027 incorporated in service.
Requirement: Inspect in accordance with the requirements of DGAC AD 2002-183(B), Corrected.
Note 1: The corrected version of the Requirement document corrects paragraph “Compliance 2”, to read 10,400 flight cycles rather than 10,400 flight hours.
Note 2: Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-53-1028 Revision 1 refers.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document.
This Amendment becomes effective on 5 September 2002.
Background: This Directive requires inspections to detect and/or prevent any damage related to structural fatigue.
Amendment 1 introduced revised threshold and inspection intervals as a result of a review of A320 in-service aircraft fleet mission parameters and those originally considered.
Amendment 2 is issued in response to a corrected version of the Requirement document, which corrects a compliance anomaly of flight hour intervals to flight cycle intervals.
Amendment 1 of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 16 May 2002.
