SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Airbus Industrie A319, A320, and A321 Series Aeroplanes

AD/A320/139 Centre Wing Box Upper Stringers 9/2002

Applicability: Model A320-111 aircraft, serial numbers 002 through 021.

Requirement: Perform a detailed visual inspection in accordance with Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-57-1030 Revision 3.

Note: DGAC AD 2002-341(B) refers.

Compliance: 1. Before the accumulation of 6,500 total flight cycles, unless already accomplished. Repeat thereafter at intervals not to exceed 5,500 flight cycles.

2. For aircraft inspected in accordance with the original issue, Revision 1, or Revision 2 of the Requirement document, a grace period of 2,000 flight cycles from the effective date of this Directive is allowed before the next inspection, provided 7,500 flight cycles is not exceeded since last inspection.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 5 September 2002.

Background: The DGAC requires an inspection program of the upper stringers of the centre wing box, which was originally mandated by AD 92-200-029(B). This Directive introduces a revision of the Requirement document and related DGAC AD which introduce revised inspection threshold and intervals, as a result of a review of A320 in-service aircraft fleet mission parameters and those originally considered.
