The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/A320/109

Amdt 1

MLG Door Actuator Fitting 2/2004

Applicability: Model A319, A320, and A321 aircraft equipped with main landing gear door fittings assembly part number D52880224 00/001 or D52880235 00/001. Aircraft with Modification 24903 or 25372 incorporated in production, or Service Bulletins A320- 52-1073 original issue, Revision 1, 2, 3, or 4, incorporated in service, and on which no landing gear door has been replaced, are exempted from the requirements of this Directive.

Requirement: Action in accordance with the requirements of DGAC AD F-2003-434, issued 10 December 2003.

Note: Airbus Service Bulletins A320-52A1086 Revision 1, A320-52-1096 Revision 1 and A320-52-1073 Revision 4 refer.

Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document.

This Amendment becomes effective on 19 February 2004.

Background: This Directive superseded AD/A320/103 Amdt 1. The inspections required by that Directive were found to be applicable to all unmodified aircraft rather than aircraft with particular batches of main landing gear door actuator fittings.

Amendment 1 is issued in response to a new DGAC AD which was raised after further investigation revealed that cracks may also occur in the upper part of the main landing gear door actuator fitting in the area of the hinge.

Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 7 January 2004

The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 28 January 2004.
