SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES

 


AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE


For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

 

Agusta A119 Series Helicopters

 

AD/A119/4 Hydraulic Pump 5/2002

 

Applicability: All Agusta A119 helicopters equipped with hydraulic pump P/N 109-076-42-101 fitted.

 

Requirement: 1. In accordance with Agusta Technical Bulletin 119-4.

 

  1. Check hydraulic fluid level.

 

b.    If an excessive consumption of hydraulic fluid is noted with no sign of external leakage perform analysis of the transmission fluid for contamination by hydraulic fluid, prior to further flight.

 

c.    Contaminated transmissions must be removed prior to further flight as per Technical Bulletin 119-4.

 

2. In accordance with Agusta Technical Bulletin 119-4.

 

a. Replace hydraulic pump.

 

Note: Italian AD 2002-113 refers.

 

Compliance: Requirement 1. At each daily inspection.

 

Requirement 2. Prior to 31st December 2002.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 16 May 2002.

 

Background: The current hydraulic pump does not allow hydraulic fluid to drain from the case if the hydraulic pump shaft seal leaks. Subsequently fluid leakage can degrade the main transmission seal and allow hydraulic fluid to enter the transmission. Contamination of the transmission lubricating oil will require main transmission removal.
