Section 475 imposes a maximum penalty of $660,000 for individuals and $3.3 million for bodies corporate for actions that cause significant harm to a matter of national environmental significance. Section 476 imposes a maximum penalty of $66,000 for individuals and $330,000 for bodies corporate for providing false or misleading information in an application for approval. Furthermore, section 477 imposes a maximum penalty of $66,000 for individuals and $330,000 for bodies corporate for obstructing or interfering with an authorised officer carrying out their duties under the Act.
