Woodstop and Carrera

In the Family Court of Australia, Justice Cronin made orders restraining Mr Carrera and Ms Woodstop, their servants and agents, from removing the children J and K from the Commonwealth of Australia. The court requested the Australian Federal Police place the children's names on the Airport Watch List at all points of arrival and departure within Australia, to remain there until further court order.

The primary legal issue before the court was the urgent need to prevent the children from being taken out of Australia, given the context of international travel arrangements. The court was required to determine the appropriate protective measures to ensure the children's presence within the jurisdiction.

Justice Cronin applied principles relating to the protection of children and the court's power to make orders preventing their removal from Australia. The court ordered that the children's passports be collected by the husband for the purpose of obtaining refunds on international travel tickets purchased for them, with the condition that the husband return the passports to the wife within 14 days. All other proceedings were dismissed.
