In the matter of *Williams and David*, heard before Justice Fowler, the dispute concerned parenting orders. The father, who was called to appear, did not attend the hearing.

The court was required to determine whether to proceed with the hearing on an undefended basis, and consequently, what parenting orders should be made in the absence of the father's participation.

Justice Fowler ordered that the father's amended application for parenting orders be dismissed and all prior parenting orders discharged. The children were ordered to live with the mother, who was granted sole parental responsibility. No orders were made for the children to spend time with their father. Furthermore, the father was restrained from contacting the mother or the children directly or indirectly, or coming within 500 metres of them or their places of living, employment, or education. The mother was directed to provide anonymised school reports to the father's last known address.
