Wade and Wade

In *Wade and Wade*, heard before Barry J, the dispute concerned parenting orders relating to a child born in September 1996. The court was required to determine the living arrangements for the child and the allocation of parental responsibility, as well as the nature and extent of the mother's future contact with the child.

Barry J ordered that all previous parenting orders concerning the child be discharged. The court further ordered that the child live with the Father and that the Father have sole parental responsibility for all decisions, both short-term and long-term, concerning the child. The Mother was granted liberty to communicate with the child only in writing, including sending cards and small gifts, with such communication to be sent through the Father, unless the parties agreed otherwise. Both parties were ordered to keep each other informed of their postal addresses and to notify immediately in writing of any changes. The Independent Children’s Lawyer was discharged. The court also noted that particulars of the obligations created by these orders, the consequences of contravention, and details of assistance available to parties were set out in an annexed document.
