Van Basten and Humboldt

In the matter of *Van Basten and Humboldt*, heard before Macmillan J, the dispute concerned parenting arrangements for the child of the relationship, B. The proceedings concluded with orders made by consent between the parties.

The court was required to determine the parenting responsibilities and living arrangements for the child, as well as the father's ongoing involvement in the child's life, including communication and access to educational information. The court also considered the discharge of previous parenting orders and the appointment of an Independent Children's Lawyer.

By consent, the court ordered that the mother have sole parental responsibility for the child and that the child live with the mother. The mother was also ordered to permit the child to telephone the father upon the child's request and to authorise schools to provide school reports to the father upon his request and at his expense. All previous parenting orders and the appointment of the Independent Children's Lawyer were discharged, and all extant applications were dismissed. Documents produced to the court were to be returned to their producers after 30 days or upon the conclusion of any appeal.
