The appeals were allowed, and the orders made by the Federal Magistrate were set aside. The matter was remitted for an interim hearing before a different Federal Magistrate. Pending the rehearing, the mother was granted sole parental responsibility for the child, with the father having specified visitation times. Additionally, the court issued costs certificates to both parties, indicating that it would be appropriate for the Attorney-General to authorise payments for the costs incurred by both the mother and the father in relation to the appeal and rehearing.
