In the matter of *Tirado & Richmond*, heard by Gill J, the mother sought an expedited hearing of her application to set aside a binding financial agreement. The mother alleged family violence as a basis for her application. However, the court also noted the mother's delay in pursuing the matter and her non-compliance with previous directions.

The primary legal issue before the court was whether the mother's application for expedition should be granted, notwithstanding her delay and non-compliance. A secondary issue concerned an application for costs, which was also before the court.

Gill J dismissed the mother's application for expedition. The court reasoned that the mother had not demonstrated sufficient grounds to justify expediting the proceedings, particularly in light of her own conduct. The judge also dismissed the application for costs. The proceedings were adjourned for further directions regarding the application to set aside the binding financial agreement. The husband was ordered to file and serve a response to the particulars provided by the wife concerning the agreement, treating them as pleadings. Further directions were to be given on 9 July 2020.
