Thestor and Bugno

In *Thestor and Bugno*, heard before Cronin J, the wife had filed an application alleging contravention of court orders by the husband. The husband had also filed an application for contravention orders against the wife. The court was required to determine the wife's contravention application and the husband's application for contravention orders, as well as address the husband's informal request for an adjournment.

The central legal issue was the determination of the wife's contravention application. The court also considered the husband's application for contravention orders, which was ultimately struck out. Furthermore, the court had to decide whether to grant the husband's request for an adjournment of the proceedings.

Cronin J adjourned the wife's contravention application for determination of orders in accordance with s 70NEB of the *Family Law Act 1975* (Cth). The court refused the husband's informal application for an adjournment and struck out his application for contravention orders. The husband was ordered to pay the wife's costs fixed at $8600. Liberty was granted to the wife to apply for a warrant for the husband's arrest should he fail to attend the adjourned hearing.
