The proceedings involved the mother and father of a child, N, born in October 2001. The dispute concerned the arrangements for the mother to spend time with N. The matter came before Dessau J.

The court was required to determine the specific arrangements for the mother's contact with N, including the dates, times, location, and supervision of these visits. The court also needed to establish a timetable for the preparation and filing of reports, affidavits, and outlines of case, as well as set a date for the final hearing.

Dessau J made orders for supervised contact between the mother and child on three specific dates in late 2009 and early 2010, to take place at a shopping centre and be supervised by a professional supervisor. The court also ordered the preparation of a Family Report and set deadlines for the parties to file and serve their evidence and submissions. The court further directed that particulars of the obligations and consequences of contravening the orders, as set out in an attached Fact Sheet, be included within the orders themselves, pursuant to sections 65DA(2) and 62B of the relevant legislation.
