Sorrensen and Sorrensen

In *Sorrensen and Sorrensen*, Forrest J of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia considered an application by the wife for enforcement of financial orders made in previous proceedings. The husband had failed to comply with certain orders concerning the division of property.

The primary legal issue before the court was whether the husband had breached the existing financial orders and, if so, what orders should be made to enforce compliance and address the costs incurred by the wife in bringing the enforcement application.

Forrest J found that the husband had indeed failed to comply with the financial orders. The court determined that the wife was entitled to recover her costs associated with the enforcement proceedings due to the husband's non-compliance.

Consequently, the court ordered the husband to pay the wife's costs of and incidental to her enforcement application, with the total sum fixed at $15,429.25.
