Rules of Practice Amendment Rules 2020 (TAS)

The Law Society of Tasmania Council enacted the Rules of Practice Amendment Rules 2020, amending the Rules of Practice 1994. The Rules of Practice Amendment Rules 2020 were made under the Legal Profession Act 2007. The amendments were incorporated into the authorised version of the Rules of Practice 1994. The Rules of Practice Amendment Rules 2020 were made on 7 September 2020, and were notified in the Gazette on 16 September 2020. They took effect on 1 October 2020. The court was not required to decide any legal issues as the Rules of Practice Amendment Rules 2020 were made under the authority of the Legal Profession Act 2007. The Rules of Practice Amendment Rules 2020 amended the Rules of Practice 1994 to update and modernise the legal profession in Tasmania. The Rules of Practice Amendment Rules 2020 incorporated amendments into the authorised version of the Rules of Practice 1994. These amendments included changes to the rules governing the admission of solicitors, the conduct of legal practitioners, and the regulation of legal practice in Tasmania. The Rules of Practice Amendment Rules 2020 were made by the Council of the Law Society of Tasmania under the authority of the Legal Profession Act 2007, and were notified in the Gazette on 16 September 2020. The Rules of Practice Amendment Rules 2020 took effect on 1 October 2020.
