In the matter of SYC 4032 of 2017, TT Lawyers Pty Ltd sought to intervene in proceedings between Mr Rizvi and Ms Rizvi. A registrar had previously dismissed TT Lawyers Pty Ltd's application to intervene. Rees J of the Family Court of Australia was required to review this decision.

The central legal issue before the Court was whether the registrar erred in dismissing TT Lawyers Pty Ltd's application to intervene in the proceedings.

Rees J determined that the registrar's decision to dismiss the application was incorrect. The Court reasoned that the registrar had failed to properly consider the application and the relevant legal principles governing intervention. Consequently, the Court ordered that the registrar's decision of 25 March 2021, which dismissed the application by TT Lawyers Pty Ltd to intervene, be set aside.
