Quoc and Tang

In the matter of *Quoc and Tang*, heard by Judge Young, the dispute concerned the division of property between the parties. The court was required to make orders regarding the transfer of specific assets and the allocation of responsibility for outstanding debts.

The court was tasked with determining how to distribute the parties' property, including real estate and a vehicle, and to address the payment of outstanding utility and rates charges associated with the property. Furthermore, the court needed to establish a mechanism for ensuring the effective transfer of these assets and to clarify how other property, such as bank accounts, vehicles, and superannuation interests, would be retained by each party.

Judge Young ordered that the husband transfer his interest in a Northern Territory property to the wife within 30 days, with the wife assuming responsibility for all outstanding power, water, and rates bills for that property and indemnifying the husband against any such liability. The husband was also ordered to transfer a vehicle to the wife within the same timeframe. The court further stipulated that each party would retain property in their possession, including non-joint bank accounts, vehicles, furniture, personal effects, and superannuation interests, for their sole use and benefit, unless otherwise specified by the orders. Provisions were also made for the Registrar of the Federal Circuit Court to execute documents on behalf of a party who refused or neglected to do so, with the defaulting party to bear the costs associated with such a request.
