Poppy and Leatherwood (No 2)

In *Poppy and Leatherwood (No 2)*, Murphy J of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia considered applications concerning the living arrangements and parental responsibility for three children. The dispute centred on the children's future residence and the extent of their contact with the father.

The primary legal issues before the court were: (1) with whom the children should live; (2) who should hold parental responsibility for the children; and (3) the nature and frequency of the children's time with the father. The court was also required to determine the final disposition of all extant applications and related procedural matters.

Murphy J ordered that the children live with the mother and that she have sole parental responsibility. The father was granted supervised time with the children, limited to once every two months, contingent on the availability of the Y Contact Centre on the Sunshine Coast. The court further ordered that both parties facilitate the commencement of this contact arrangement and that all extant applications be dismissed. The Independent Children's Lawyer was discharged, and subpoenaed documents and exhibits were to be returned. The orders also incorporated a Fact Sheet detailing the obligations, consequences of contravention, and support services available, pursuant to ss 65DA(2) and 62B of the relevant legislation.
