Millet and Barton

In the matter of *Millet and Barton*, heard before Cronin J, the dispute concerned parenting orders relating to a child, B, born in 2014. Ms Barton sought orders regarding parental responsibility and the ability to renew the child's Australian passport.

The primary legal issues before the court were whether Ms Barton should have sole parental responsibility for B and whether she should be permitted to renew B's Australian passport without the written consent of Mr Millet.

Cronin J determined that it was in B's best interests for Ms Barton to have sole parental responsibility. The court also granted Ms Barton permission to renew B's Australian passport without Mr Millet's consent, and to sign all necessary documents for this purpose from time to time. The court otherwise dismissed Ms Barton's response filed on 16 February 2018.
