MELLAND & GILVRAY

In the matter of *Melland & Gilvray*, heard before Judge Burchardt, the dispute concerned parental responsibility and living arrangements for a child born in 2017. The court was tasked with determining the best interests of the child in light of the circumstances presented by the parents.

The primary legal issues before the court were: (1) who should have sole parental responsibility for the child; (2) where the child should live; and (3) the nature and extent of the Father's time with the child, including whether supervision was necessary. The court also considered recommendations made by the Independent Children’s Lawyer regarding parental education.

The court ordered that the Mother have sole parental responsibility for the child until further order, and that the child live with the Mother. The Father was to spend time with the child under the supervision of Ms C, with the Father to bear the costs of these supervised visits. Furthermore, both parties were ordered to enrol in the "Tuning In To Kids" course as recommended by the Independent Children’s Lawyer. Liberty to apply was granted to both parties.
