This matter concerned parenting and property disputes between Mr Mason (the father/husband) and Ms Pavola (the mother/wife) regarding their child, X. The proceedings were heard by Judge Monahan.

The court was required to determine arrangements for X's time with each parent, including the nature of parental responsibility and specific time-sharing schedules. In relation to property, the court needed to consider the parties' contributions during their seven-year marriage, whether contributions from the maternal grandparents should be attributed to the wife, and how to address the value and potential tax liabilities associated with shares and an international pension fund.

The court ordered that both parents have equal shared parental responsibility for X, with X to live with the mother. Detailed time-sharing orders were made, outlining specific arrangements for X to spend time with the father, progressively increasing overnight time and holiday periods. The court also made orders regarding communication between parents and X, the use of a communication book, and prohibitions against denigration. In the property division, the husband was ordered to pay the wife a sum of $433,063.50 and transfer his interest in a specific property to her. The court also addressed the division of wedding rings and allocated a base amount from the husband's superannuation to the wife. Each party was to retain chattels and moneys in their sole name.
