Maple and Niu

In the matter of *Maple and Niu*, heard before Austin J, the dispute concerned parenting orders for a child, V, born in 2002. The court was required to consider applications for interim relief made by both parties.

The central legal issue before the court was whether to grant interim relief concerning the parenting arrangements for V. This involved determining whether to suspend existing parenting orders and whether to make any interim provisions for V's residence, time spent with each parent, and communication.

Austin J ordered the suspension of all former parenting orders relating to V, with the exception of one specific order made on 20 June 2014. Crucially, the court intentionally made no provision regarding with whom V would live, spend time, or communicate. The applications for interim relief filed by both parties were dismissed. The substantive proceedings were subsequently referred back to the Registrar for further procedural directions.
