In the matter of *Madrano & Madrano*, Judge Harland considered an application by the wife for enforcement of interim maintenance orders and for costs. The dispute centred on the husband's alleged non-compliance with previous court orders concerning maintenance payments and the transfer of assets.

The court was required to determine the extent of the husband's non-compliance with existing interim maintenance orders, the appropriate quantum of arrears owed by the husband to the wife, and whether the husband had fulfilled his obligations regarding the assignment of his interest in specific education plan policies. Furthermore, the court needed to address the wife's entitlement to costs incurred due to the husband's alleged breaches.

Judge Harland ordered the husband to pay a total sum of $21,292 within two business days, comprising arrears from non-compliance with an order made on 6 November 2019, the remaining amount due under an order of 17 February 2020, and a further sum for non-compliance with another order of 17 February 2020. The husband was also directed to assign his interest in two specified B Education Plan policies to the wife within the same timeframe. The court further ordered that any shortfall in these payments could be met from funds held on trust by the wife's lawyers, with a corresponding reduction in the husband's property settlement entitlement. The husband was also ordered to pay the wife's costs for specific court appearances and their preparation, to be deducted from the trust funds. The existing orders of 6 November 2019 and 17 February 2020 were to remain in full force, save as expressly provided. The wife was ordered to provide certain financial documents within 21 days, and both parties were to comply with requests for further disclosure within 14 days of receipt.
