Jell and Mackillop

In the matter of *Jell and Mackillop*, Brown J considered applications concerning the welfare of a child born in July 2002. The dispute involved the father's contact with the child, with the court making orders for supervised contact and further assessments.

The court was required to determine the appropriate arrangements for the child's time with the father, including the location and supervision of contact, and to consider the capacity of the father's mother and Mr N to supervise such contact. The court also needed to address the provision of reports regarding the father's contact and the child's welfare.

Brown J ordered that within 48 hours, the parties were to take all necessary steps to apply for supervised contact at the G Contact Centre in regional Victoria, and that the father was to commence spending time with the child at the Centre as soon as practicable thereafter. The court further requested that the G Centre prepare a report on the father's time with the child, to be filed by the independent children's lawyer by 13 June 2008. Additionally, the Magellan registrar was requested to liaise with the Department of Human Services to assess the suitability of the father's mother and Mr N to supervise contact pending trial, with such assessments to be completed by 30 May 2008. The matter was adjourned for further hearing on 20 June 2008.
