Application for approval of the Wallsend Community Preschool Inc Teachers Agreement 2017.

An application has been made for approval of an enterprise agreement known as the Wallsend Community Preschool Inc Teachers Agreement 2017 (the Agreement). The application was made pursuant to s.185 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (the Act). It has been made by the Independent Education Union of Australia. The Agreement is a single enterprise agreement.

I am satisfied that each of the requirements of ss.186, 187 and 188 as are relevant to this application for approval have been met.

The Independent Education Union of Australia being a bargaining representative for the Agreement, has given notice under s.183 of the Act that it wants the Agreement to cover it. In accordance with s.201(2) I note that the Agreement covers the organisation.

The Agreement is approved and, in accordance with s.54 of the Act, will operate from 24 January 2018. The nominal expiry date of the Agreement is 20 March 2020.

The Commission made an order approving the Wallsend Community Preschool Inc Teachers Agreement 2017 as a registered agreement under the Fair Work Act. The order was effective from the date of the Commission's decision and was to remain in force until the earlier of the parties terminating the agreement in accordance with its terms, or the agreement being superseded by a new registered agreement. The agreement was to apply to all teachers employed by the preschool who were members of the union.
