Hops and Hops

In the matter of Hops and Hops, Le Poer Trench J considered a dispute between a husband and wife concerning the division of their assets. The proceedings were brought to a conclusion by the court's final orders.

The court was required to determine the appropriate distribution of assets between the parties, including the specific sum to be paid by the husband to the wife, and how that payment was to be secured. The court also needed to address the ownership of remaining assets and liabilities.

Le Poer Trench J ordered the husband to pay the wife a sum of $117,575 by 10 March 2011. This sum was to be secured against the husband's interest in a deposit of $423,919 held in his UBS account, with the husband restricted from dealing with these funds except to make the payment. The wife was also directed to sign documents to transfer a Subaru motor vehicle into the husband's sole name. Each party was declared the owner of assets in their respective names and responsible for their sole liabilities. All prior interim orders were discharged, and the proceedings were otherwise completed with outstanding applications dismissed.
