HAWKING & HAWKING

The parties to this proceeding were Mr and Mrs Hawking, who sought to vary or discharge certain final orders made by Registrar Brooks on 10 July 2013. The dispute concerned the finalisation of parenting orders, particularly in light of the child, J, having attained her majority.

The court was required to determine whether the existing final orders should be made absolute, with specific exceptions, and to consider the implications of the child's age on those orders. The court also needed to ensure that the final orders complied with the requirements of the *Family Law Act 1975* (Cth) regarding the particulars of obligations, consequences of contravention, and assistance available to parties.

Kent J ordered that the Registrar's orders of 10 July 2013 be made final, with the exception of orders (14) and (29), which were discharged. Furthermore, all orders relating to the child, J, were discharged as she had attained her majority. The court also directed that a document detailing the particulars of obligations, consequences of contravention, and sources of assistance be annexed to the final orders, pursuant to sections 62B and 65DA(2) of the *Family Law Act 1975* (Cth).
