Handley & Tranter (No. 2)

In *Handley & Tranter (No. 2)*, Moore J of the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia considered applications made by the husband in proceedings concerning property settlement and spousal maintenance. The wife was represented by Legal Aid Queensland.

The court was required to determine whether to grant the husband's applications, which sought to dismiss the wife's claims for property settlement and spousal maintenance, and to dismiss the wife's application for an order for the husband to pay her costs.

Moore J dismissed the husband's applications. The court ordered that the husband pay $11,880 to Legal Aid Queensland towards the wife's costs of the proceedings within one month, or such further time as agreed. The husband's applications as set out in paragraphs 2, 3, and 4 of his Response filed on 28 August 2007 were dismissed.
