In the matter of *Ganden & Ganden*, Aldridge J considered an interim application for spousal maintenance and an application for the transfer of proceedings. The wife sought urgent financial assistance, while the husband sought to transfer the proceedings to the Brisbane Registry.

The court was required to determine whether there was sufficient evidence to grant the interim spousal maintenance application, and if so, on what terms. Additionally, the court had to decide whether to grant the husband's application to transfer the proceedings to Brisbane, and under what conditions.

Aldridge J found that there was insufficient evidence to properly deal with the interim spousal maintenance application at that time, and therefore adjourned it. However, the court did determine that the wife was in need of urgent financial assistance and made interim orders for spousal maintenance of $550.00 per week until the adjourned date. The application for transfer of proceedings to the Brisbane Registry was granted, subject to the husband paying $1,000 towards the wife’s travel and accommodation expenses prior to each court appearance, conciliation conference, or mediation held in Brisbane. Leave was also granted to the husband to attend a case assessment conference by phone.
