Flynn and Troy

The case of *Flynn and Troy* concerned parenting orders in relation to a child born in January 2002. The application was brought by the father.

The primary legal issue before the Court was whether the father's application, filed on 12 March 2009, should be dismissed. The Court was also required to determine the appropriate next steps for the management of the proceedings, including the filing of parenting orders sought by the father and directions for the further conduct of the action.

Murphy J dismissed the father's application. The Court directed that the father must, within 28 days, file a Response detailing any parenting orders he sought concerning the child. Furthermore, the legal practitioners for both parties were directed to confer promptly to agree on directions for the case management of the action, to be filed within 28 days. Any applications for costs, or responses thereto, were to be made by written submissions filed within 14 days, with any response to be filed within a further 14 days.
