Flint and Odger

In the matter of *Flint and Odger*, heard before Macmillan J of the Family Court of Australia, the dispute concerned final parenting orders for a child born in 2014. The proceedings involved applications for final orders by the parties.

The central legal issue before the Court was to determine the most appropriate final parenting arrangements for the child, specifically regarding parental responsibility, where the child should live, and whether the child should spend time with the father.

Macmillan J ordered that the mother have sole parental responsibility for the child and that the child live with the mother. Crucially, the Court ordered that the child not spend time with the father. All other extant applications for final orders were dismissed. The Court also directed that particulars of the obligations and consequences of contravening these orders, along with information on assistance for compliance, be set out in an attached Fact Sheet, which was to be incorporated into the orders. Finally, the Court directed the return of all documents produced by subpoena and exhibits to their original producers.
