CaseChat Overview and Summary
The Firearms Regulation 1997 (ACT) was repealed by the Firearms Regulation 2008 (SL 2008-55), which commenced on 15 January 2009. The repealed Regulation was made under the Firearms Act 1996 (ACT) and dealt with a wide range of issues relating to the regulation of firearms in the ACT. The Regulation included provisions for the licensing and registration of firearms, the safe storage and transportation of firearms, and the exemptions and offences related to firearms. The repealed Regulation also included provisions for the approval of shooting clubs and collectors clubs, and the conditions for the possession and use of firearms for various purposes. The Firearms Regulation 2008 replaced the repealed Regulation and made further amendments to the regulation of firearms in the ACT.
