El Hassan v The Queen

In the case of El Hassan v The Queen, the High Court was asked to review the sentence handed down to the appellant for his role in the importation and trafficking of a significant quantity of cocaine. The appellant, along with others, was involved in the importation of approximately 11 kilograms of cocaine into Australia, a crime which had severe implications for public health and safety. The Court accordingly allowed the appeal and remitted the matter to the original sentencing court for reconsideration of the sentence.
