Department of Child Safety and Gibson

The Honourable Justice Jordan of the Supreme Court of Queensland considered an application by the Department of Child Safety against a Mr. Gibson. The dispute concerned an application made by the Department under the *Child Protection Act 1999* (Qld) and related orders previously made by the court.

Justice Jordan dismissed the Department's Form 2 Application, finding that the evidence did not support the continuation of the protective orders. Consequently, the court discharged specific orders made on 15 April 2008, including those that had mandated the surrender of passports. The court further directed that any passports previously surrendered under those orders were to be returned to the respondent, Mr. Gibson.
