This matter concerned applications by Ms Corona (the applicant) against Mr Corona (the respondent) in the Family Court of Australia. The dispute involved urgent lump sum spousal maintenance, periodic spousal maintenance, interim property distribution, and parenting arrangements for the parties' two children.

The court was required to determine the appropriate interim financial orders, including the quantum and timing of spousal maintenance and property settlement payments. Additionally, the court needed to establish parenting orders, specifically addressing the concept of equal shared parental responsibility and the time the children would spend with each parent, as well as orders restraining denigration of either parent.

In reaching its decision, Judge B Smith ordered the respondent to make a further urgent lump sum spousal maintenance payment of $10,000, in addition to a previous payment, and to pay ongoing weekly spousal maintenance of $1,000. The respondent was also ordered to pay $150,000 by way of interim property settlement in three instalments. The court made orders regarding the occupation of the parties' properties, with the respondent to have sole use and occupation of Property A upon receipt of certain payments, and sole right of occupation of Property B. Parenting orders were made establishing equal shared parental responsibility, with the children to live with the applicant and spend substantial and significant time with the respondent, including specific arrangements for weekdays, weekends, school holidays, and special days. The court also made orders restraining each parent from denigrating the other.
