In the matter of *Child Support Registrar & Edgar*, Judge Scarlett considered an application for the enforcement of child support arrears. The respondent did not attend court for the hearing of this application.

The court was required to determine the extent of the child support debt owed by the respondent and whether orders should be made to secure its payment. The court also considered an application for costs.

Judge Scarlett ordered that the respondent pay the full child support debt to the applicant and also pay the applicant's costs, fixed at $3,430.80. To secure payment of the total debt, the respondent was restrained from dealing with his interest in a specific property in New South Wales without the applicant's consent, and his interest in that property was charged in favour of the applicant, who was at liberty to lodge a caveat. The orders stipulated that the total debt would become immediately due and payable if the respondent defaulted on payments or breached the property orders.
