In the matter of *Casano & Antipov*, heard before Hannam J, the applicant, Mr Casano, sought orders for the provision of previous Reasons for Judgment and Orders to the police and the Department of Family and Community Services. The dispute concerned the disclosure of court documents to external agencies.

The central legal issue before the court was whether the Independent Children’s Lawyer should be permitted to provide the Reasons for Judgment and Orders made on 16 September 2015 to both the police officer investigating the matter and the Department of Family and Community Services.

Hannam J determined that it was appropriate for the Independent Children’s Lawyer to disclose these documents. The court granted leave for the Independent Children’s Lawyer to provide the Orders and Reasons for Judgment to the investigating police officer and also to the Department of Family and Community Services.

The court ordered that the Independent Children’s Lawyer is to provide to the police officer with carriage of the investigation the Orders and Reasons for Judgment of 16 September 2015. Furthermore, the Independent Children’s Lawyer was granted leave to provide a copy of the Reasons for Judgment and Orders of 16 September 2015 to the Department of Family and Community Services.
