In the matter of *Canavan & Felton*, heard by Judge Scarlett, the dispute concerned interim parenting orders and an application to transfer proceedings. The applicant mother sought orders regarding the child X, while the respondent father sought a change of venue from the Sydney Registry to the Lismore Registry of the Court.

The court was required to determine whether to grant the interim parenting orders as sought by the mother, and whether to grant the father's application to transfer the proceedings to Lismore, considering the convenience of the parties and the limitation of expense and costs. The court also had to consider the best interests of the child in making these determinations.

Judge Scarlett made orders by consent regarding the child's living arrangements and communication between the child and the mother. Crucially, the court ordered that the application be transferred to the Lismore Circuit sittings, with a mention date set. Orders 5 and 6 of the Application for Interim Orders filed on 21 October 2015 were withdrawn and dismissed. The respondent's costs were reserved.
