In *Brennan & Brennan*, heard before Ainslie-Wallace J, the dispute concerned applications for interim spousal maintenance and interim legal costs.

The court was required to determine whether to grant interim spousal maintenance and, if so, on what terms. It also had to consider the appropriate quantum for any interim legal costs order.

Ainslie-Wallace J ordered the husband to pay the wife $6,500 per week by way of interim spousal maintenance, commencing seven days from the date of the order. Additionally, the husband was ordered to pay the wife $80,000 within 21 days. The judge expressly reserved the characterisation of this $80,000 payment for determination at trial.
