In the matter of *Bond & Dalton*, heard before Judge Kari, the applicant sought urgent spousal maintenance. The respondent contended that the applicant's application was, in reality, an application for interim spousal maintenance. During the hearing, the applicant made an oral application for interim spousal maintenance.

The court was required to determine whether the applicant's application for urgent spousal maintenance should be dismissed and whether the oral application for interim spousal maintenance should be granted and how it should proceed.

Judge Kari dismissed the applicant's application for urgent spousal maintenance. However, the court recognised the oral application for interim spousal maintenance and ordered that it be listed for a face-to-face hearing, allowing for oral evidence and cross-examination. The applicant was also directed to file and serve an amended Initiating Application detailing the specific orders sought for interim maintenance within seven days, and both parties were granted liberty to file and serve amended Financial Statements by 21 August 2020.
