Becker and Becker

In the matter of *Becker and Becker*, heard by Bennett J, the dispute concerned property settlement and spousal maintenance between the husband and wife. The wife had filed an application in a case on 15 April 2013, to which the husband had responded.

The court was required to determine the terms of the property settlement and spousal maintenance, including the quantum and timing of payments. The court also had to consider the wife's application and the husband's response.

Bennett J ordered that the husband pay the wife $100,000 within 45 days as partial property settlement. Further, the husband was ordered to pay spousal maintenance of $650 per week from 23 May 2013 until further order or written agreement, with the next payment due on 10 October 2013. Arrears of spousal maintenance up to 3 October 2013 were fixed at $12,350 and were to be paid within 14 days. All monies were to be paid into a specified NAB account in the wife's name. The wife's application and the husband's response were dismissed. The matter was listed for mention on 10 October 2013 to check readiness for mediation.
