BASRA & AHMED

In the matter of BASRA & AHMED, heard before Watts J, the dispute concerned parenting orders in relation to three children, B (born 1998), C (born 2001), and D (born 2008). The mother sought orders for parental responsibility and that the children live with her, while the father had applied for his own parenting orders.

The central legal issue before the court was to determine the final parenting arrangements for the children, specifically whether to grant the mother's application for parental responsibility and residence, and consequently, whether to dismiss the father's application. The court was also required to consider the discharge of an interim order appointing an Independent Children's Lawyer.

Watts J ordered that the mother have parental responsibility for all three children and that they live with her. The father's application for parenting orders was dismissed. All parenting matters, both final and interim, before the court were finalised, and the prior order appointing an Independent Children's Lawyer was discharged.
